PRIVATE PILOT

Airplane Single Engine Land (ASEL)

As a private pilot, the world opens up! When you become a Airplane Single Engine Land (ASEL) Private Pilot, you are able to fly Certified, Sport, Experimental, and Recreational fixed wing, single engine airplanes all over the world (radio license required for flight outside of the US). This is the first step in becoming a Pilot for a career or for a hobby and as an added bonus, it opens the door for additional ratings, like Rotorcrafts (helicopters) or Multi Engine Airplanes at a reduced cost because you'll already have the experience and knowledge of the shared aspects of these additional ratings.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) require a Private Pilot applicant to have logged at a minimum, 40 hrs of flight time, 20 of which must be with an authorized instructor, and be at least 17 years of age. However, you do not have to wait until you are 17 years old to start your flight training as you can start logging hours at any age! You will have to be at least 16 years old in order to do a solo flight in an airplane. The national average is between 50 and 70 hours of logged flight time for a Private Pilot Certificate.
