FAQ'S

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Welcome to the World of Aviation and the beginning of the road that leads to becoming a Pilot!

The first thing you want to do after finding the school you want to attend is to make sure you are healthy enough to become a pilot.
As a Pilot, you must hold a valid Medical Certificate and that is one of the first things a pilot applicant should obtain before starting their flight training. There have been cases where an applicant has gone through training, waited to apply for a medical certificate, and then when it was needed, the applicant did not qualify for a medical certificate, could not become a pilot, and ended up wasting all that time and money.

Below is the web address to the Airplane Owners and Pilot Association's website that has great resources on medical conditions and medications that may effect a persons ability to obtain a Medical Certificate. If questions still exist, it is recommended to contact a person at AOPA to seek further guidance.

You will also need to create and account on the FAA MedXpress website which generates your MedXpress number which will be required for your medical examination with an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). See the web addresses below for both the MedXpress website and a search tool that helps you find an AME near you.

Lastly you will need an FAA Tracking Number as a pilot applicant and pilot. This number will be used when you take your practical exams and will be the FAA's way of tracking your progress through your aviation journey! To get this number, you will need to log into the Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA) and start a new application. Please see the web address below.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?

You can start flight training at any age but you will have to be at least 16 years old to solo an airplane (part of training) and 17 years old to be certificated (take the practical exam).

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Though this question is asked a lot, there is no right answer.  You have to log a minimum of 40 hours of flight time for your Private Pilot Certificate and how long that takes depends on how often you fly and how quickly you perform to the standards needed to pass the Practical Exam.  I've heard of people earning their pilot certificate in a month while others have taken years.

CANCELLATION POLICY &
PILOT CERTIFICATE PACKAGE GUARANTEE

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

We have a 24hour cancellation policy.  If you are unable to make your scheduled flight and/or ground lesson, you must call and cancel with your instructor NO LESS THAN 24HRS PRIOR to the scheduled lesson time.  Failure to do so will result in a $60 fee (or 1.5hrs instruction deducted from package if purchased) per 2 hour of booked time charged to the student.  You will not be charged the cost of the aircraft rental.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

For any of our packages, if a refund is requested, you will be refunded the remaining balance minus a $150 administration fee after all used flight time and instruction has been accounted for.
For hourly rentals, if there is an issue with the airplane, any logged time will be charged and the remaining will be refunded.

IS IT GUARANTEED THAT I WILL BE READY TO PASS AND WILL PASS MY PRACTICAL EXAM WITH A PURCHASED PACKAGE?

There is NO GUARANTEE that you will be ready within the number of hours that are included with the package.  Every person learns and improves at different rates.  It may take a person 40 hours exactly to be ready or it may take someone 80 hours to be ready.  There are too many factors to that we cannot control.
We also cannot guarantee that a person will pass their Practical Exam (Checkride) because everyone reacts to test taking and nerves differently.  We have however, chosen a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) who does not charge for the first retest after a failed checkride.
