INSTRUMENT RATING ADD ON

Airplane Single Engine Land

One of the most dangerous aspects of aviation is what we call “Flight into IMC”. This is anytime an aircraft enters into Instrument Meteorological Conditions (the CLOUDS!). When this happens, a pilot looses any outside references as all you will see is the inside of a cloud. This can lead to unfortunate consequences from spatial disorientation (everything outside is grey and you have no reference to what is up, down, left, or right). If the pilot is trained to fly solely with reference to the instrumentation inside the airplane, the risk of flying into IMC conditions is greatly reduced. When you earn your Instrument rating, not only are you able to fly in more weather conditions, you become a safer pilot too! Plus an instrument rating is required if you want to become a Career Airline/Charter Pilot or a Flight Instructor!

The Federal Aviation Administration Requires a pilot to have logged a minimum of 40hours of flight time in Real or Simulated Instrument Flight Rule (IFR) conditions in order to apply to take the Instrument Practical Examination. This must include 15 hours of authorized instruction.
